Natural Pest Control

Check out these natural tips and tricks to keep the ants and flies away during your next trip!

Does it ever feel like otherwise perfect camping trips are often invaded by insect attack? Here are some Natural Pest Control Options to help during your next RV trip!

Natural Ant Poison

Ingredients:

1 tsp. dishwashing soap (not detergent)
1 tsp. cooking oil (we used virgin olive)
1 qt. water

Instructions: Mix in a spray bottle. Spray on any soft-bodied insect that invades your RV area: ants, earwigs, aphids, whiteflies, mealy bugs, etc. Also spray a barricade line where ants might be entering your RV. The only drawback is that it doesn’t work once it’s dried, so if you really want prevention, you have to spray often throughout the day or use other strategies.

Essential Oils Spray

The easiest way to deal with indoor pests is to keep them from coming indoors in the first place. Try using this vinegar and essential oils spray on the outside of our doors where flies and ants come in:

Mix 2 cups water with 1 cup of white vinegar, 50 drops of peppermint essential oil, 20 drops of basil essential oil and 20 drops of lemon essential oil. Smells nice and repels insects.

Fresh Basil Leaf

Dual purpose basil leaves repel flies and smell yummy. Try potted plants near your doorway, and you’ll have an endless supply of fresh basic at hand!
